How to Freeze Grilled Steak
Even though you can freeze uncooked steak, I don’t prefer that because it’s just not as convenient as freezing grilled steak.
This is why I’ll only be showing you how you can freeze grilled steak by following the instructions I have laid down for you.
If you are like me and you eat steak pretty regularly, you need to calculate how many cuts of steak you will need to freeze.
When you are done with your calculations, you will need to prepare your cuts of steak and grill them to perfection according to your taste.
You should freeze your grilled steak the day you grilled them. So you need to cool them off at room temperature for at least two hours before you start the freezing process.
Never start the freezing process if your pieces of steaks are hot or even slightly warm, as it can raise many complications.
The great thing about the freezing process is that you can do this with all cuts of steak, like sirloin, fillet, or even T-bone.
To start the freezing process, you need to wrap each cut of steak in cling film or aluminum foil. You need to wrap them very tightly so that they don’t suffer from freezer burns.
Make sure that you wrap each of your steaks separately so that you can avoid any complications in the future.
You have two options here, either you can keep your cuts of steak in freezer-friendly plastic bags or airtight containers and seal them safely.
I personally prefer plastic bags because I can squeeze out the excess air by hand or with a vacuum sealer, which is more efficient than an airtight plastic container.
If you use plastic bags, make sure that you put each piece of steak in a single plastic bag and take out the air completely. This is better and easier than stacking them all in one bag.
I don’t know about you, but I’m a very forgetful person. So I make sure to label each bag with the name of the cut of the steak and the date. This is to make sure that I don’t eat anything that has been in the freezer for way too long.
Then you simply put all your plastic bags with steaks in them right in the middle of the freezer so that they don’t get freezer burn. You can use these for at least three months with no problem.
Now that you know how to freeze your grilled steak, I’ve got two extra tips for your to keep in mind:
- However you like your steak to be cooked, rare, medium, or well done, if you want to freeze it, make sure you slightly undercook it. This is because when you will reheat your steak, it might go a level up, and you might not get your preferred level and taste.
- You should never freeze your steak twice, as it can bring up complications. So when you thaw your steak once, you should not put it back in the freezer. You need to portion your steak correctly to avoid any problems.
How to Thaw and Reheat Your Frozen Grilled Steak
Before you get to reheating your steak, you need to thaw it in the refrigerator. This is because you should never thaw your steak at room temperature.
So when you decide to have steak, just take it out of your freezer the night before and put it in the refrigerator. Then take out a frying pan and some oil and reheat your steak as needed before you start enjoying it.

Honestly, if you care too much about the slight change in taste, then it is better to freeze uncooked steak.
